New Forest in June

Summer for me is always about the New Forest, its wildlife
and in particular two of Britain's most enigmatic
birds of prey the Honey Buzzard and the Goshawk..

We appreciated what a rare opportunity it is to observe Goshawk hunting
techniques as they stooped and dived on each passing flock of Wood Pigeons
sending them like an explosion to all points of the compass...

We spent time marvelling at the 'Butterfly' display flights of a male Honey Buzzard
recently returned from Africa high above us in what was a perfect June sky...

Actually...

As brilliant and spectacular as
these birds always are to see...

Truth be told we were just killing time...

WELL HELLO!!!!!!

The century old quintessential English summer tradition of an afternoon cream tea...
One should of course always serve from the teapot clockwise...
One should always add cream to ones jam...
B***OCKS!!
ETIQUETTE VERY QUICKLY WENT OUT THE WINDOW IN WHAT THE LOCAL PRESS WENT ON TO DESCRIBE AS A FRENZIED,BRUTAL AND SUSTAINED SCONE ATTACK
OF CARDIAC PROPORTIONS.

After the police had taken statements from the terrified customers at the tea rooms and they
FINALLY got all the children to stop crying... it was on to Crockford Bridge to try and
catch up with another New Forest speciality the beautiful Golden-ringed Dragonfly.
